Whilst the starting age of this choir is 14 years old there are a small number of younger members who have demonstrated outstanding promise in younger sections of BYC that have graduated early into this choir. It has performed in Sweden, Latvia on 2 occasions and Germany and toured South Africa in August 2019. The Senior Choir has also performed in significant venues throughout England, with two highly successful visits to the internationally renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival and has worked with some of the most important international choral leaders in the world.
The Senior Choir is led by Mat Wright – an outstanding teacher and singer who is in demand throughout the world as a clinician and for his choral arrangements. He is ably supported by Luke Mather, Sarah Lucy Penny, Gareth Taylor and Robert Cooper. This is a mixed voice choir that sings in up to 8 parts and sings a varied repertoire. The uniform for the Senior Choir is a royal blue t-shirt for rehearsals and a royal blue dress (girls) and white shirts with a royal blue tie and black waistcoat and black trousers (boys) for concerts.
