BYC Junior Choir

BYC Junior Choir

BYC Junior Choir was established in March 2018 in response to a growing demand for opportunities for this age group. The choir is very much focused on enjoyment and the use of Kodaly games and movement to accompany singing.

Since its inception it has proved to be very popular and regularly has over 40 children attending rehearsals. They are incredibly enthusiastic and the joy of singing together is clear to see in rehearsals and performances. The choir made its debut in June 2018 at a concert featuring the National Youth Choir of Great Britain Fellowship. The children sang brilliantly in front of a sell-out audience of 400 people and sang alongside our professional band. A number of these members have already graduated into our Children’s Choirs which is really pleasing.

The choir is led by Eleanor Wright – a real expert in working with young voices. She is ably supported by Gorgey Bennett and Gareth Taylor. The children sing in unison but have also sung in 2 parts and use special Kodaly warm-ups to develop technique. The choir members wear yellow t-shirts for rehearsals and concerts (provided free of charge).
