SPONSOR A CHILD: CANTA AL MAR INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION BARCELONA - £250
OCTOBER 2025
We are seeking to take 64 of our members aged between 11-24 years of age to represent Great Britain in a prestigious International Choir Competition. The ‘Canta al Mar’ will take place in Calella and Barcelona in Spain in October 2025. This is a significant undertaking, and is competition singing of the highest international standard. The team is working extremely hard to prepare for the event both in terms of logistics and in terms of rehearsals. We are looking for your help to Sponsor a Child for £250 as we are determined that no child will miss out on these opportunities because of their financial circumstances. The cost of the trip, per person, is likely to be over £1300, and we will be working hard to raise money to reduce the direct cost to each child as many of them face financial challenges. Your contribution could make a huge difference and allow our children to showcase their talents on the international stage and represent Barnsley and Great Britain, and ensure that money is not a barrier to them to be involved. In return for your support, we will publicise your organisation / name on our website and social media to thank you, and recognise your support in the media.
SPONSOR A CHILD: CHOIR BURSARY - £250
2025-26 SEASON
Barnsley Youth Choir works hard to keep subscriptions low for children, and is able to do this because of the support of sponsors and partners. However, the cost-of-living crisis is presenting lower income families with challenges and some parents are now struggling to meet the cost of their child being involved. BYC is committed to removing barriers to participation, and offers bursaries to those who are struggling. The number of bursaries needed has increased significantly this last year, placing pressure on the choir and its viability. This support will provide a child who faces significant hardship with a bursary that includes subscriptions for a full year, uniform costs for a full year and the cost of local trips and events. It could mean the difference between the child taking part or not, and your support could be genuinely life-changing for that child. In return for your support, we will publicise your organisation / name on our website and social media to thank you, and invite you to a special evening where you can watch a rehearsal behind the scenes.
