BYC Children's Choir West

BYC Children's Choir West

BYC Children’s Choir West was established in November 2018 when parents of children living in this area were unable to access rehearsals in the centre because of the travelling distance. The choir is developing its membership quickly and has over 45 members involved.

The choir is highly enthusiastic and directors have high expectations of singers as they start to develop good technique. Whilst the choir is still developing it already has a very strong team supporting it and we have ambitious plans that include concerts with internationally renowned groups and workshops with outstanding international choral leaders.

The choir is led by Gavin Usher-Schofield – an outstanding conductor and musician. He is ably supported by Tom Masters and Emma McKenna. The children sing in 2 parts but will also sing in 3 parts and use special Kodaly warm-ups to develop technique. The choir members wear green t-shirts for rehearsals and white tops and royal blue skirts (girls) and white shirts and black trousers (boys) for concerts.

If you are interested in finding out more information or would like your child to join this choir, please complete & submit the form found on the Join BYC page. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
