For the voices of the young people of Barnsley
We are a non-profit making organisation and all members of the organisation will not be paid for their time. Despite this we have some significant costs to bear that we need to finance. We are fortunate to have gained funding for start-up costs and are in the process of applying for further funding.
Subscriptions have been held at £1 per week up to a maximum of £30 in a year. This is a minimal charge that will support the choir and enable us to pay for ongoing expenses. All money raised will go directly to the choir and the children, and no monies will go to choir leaders or any other members of the organisation. This cost may rise slightly in the future depending on external funding.
We do not want this in any way to stop children from being involved. If parents or carers have any issue with this payment please speak to Keith Norton or Mathew Wright and we will discuss a way of making it possible for your child to be involved.
As you can imagine we are financially very stretched. We estimate that it will cost up to £20,000 per year to maintain this choir. So much good will has gone into making this choir viable and we are indebted to so many for their generous contributions.
We are desperate to raise more money for the choir to provide opportunities for the children to perform and take part in musical events. If you know of anyone who could help us raise money for the choir please get in touch. We would be keen to speak to a company or organisation who would be interested in sponsoring the choir. I know that we have the potential to be very beneficial to a sponsor and raise their profile. If you have any information or contacts please get in touch.
