Barnsley Central MP, Dan Jarvis, is hosting a special fundraising evening at the Lamproom Theatre in Barnsley to help raise money for its refurbishment.
He will be joined by Christa Ackroyd, who will field questions from the audience for Dan. He will be speaking about his path to Barnsley – from Paratrooper to Politician – on Friday 4th July 2014, from 7.30pm.
Dan is a huge supporter of BYC and has been instrumental in our fundraising efforts to send a group from BYC to the World Choir Games this summer. The event at the Lamproom Theatre will be a rare opportunity for the public to put their questions to Dan in an informal setting.
Dan Jarvis said:
“I am a bit nervous about the grilling I might get from Christa, but I’m pleased that together we will help raise vital funds for the Lamproom Theatre – which is the cornerstone of our cultural offer here in Barnsley.
“I hope it will be an enjoyable and entertaining night, sharing some of my stories of life at Westminster and of my time in the Armed Forces – both of which have been combative experiences! But, above all, I hope we can raise funds to refurbish all of the seats in the Lamproom and ensure it continues as our local theatre for the coming years”.
Christa Ackroyd said:
“I promise to put the difficult questions to Dan. There will be no politicians’ answers on my watch!
“Above all, I want to ensure we have a fun night, have a nosey into Dan’s past and hear a bit more about his extraordinary story”.
Tickets cost £10 and the money raised goes towards the ‘Take a Seat’ fundraising campaign run by The Friends of the Lamproom Theatre, which also offers people the opportunity to sponsor individual seats in the theatre.
Tickets can be booked by calling 01226 200075 or visiting the Lamproom website by clicking here.
