Our winter concert series at Emmanuel Church was a huge success. Concerts on Friday 6th & Saturday 7th December were a complete sell-out, with extra seats added to the venue to cope with the huge demand for tickets.
The choir took its standards to a whole new level, performing a rich selection of new material as well as festive standards that have become a well-loved part of its repertoire. The second half of the concert programme included several African themed songs, with Musical Director Mat Wright using the tracks to pay BYC’s own tribute to the recently departed Nelson Mandela.
Saturday night also saw Barnsley Central MP Dan Jarvis speak warmly of his involvement with the BYC Christmas CD, addressing the audience and asking them to keep supporting the choir and the good work that it continues to do.
Everyone involved in BYC would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to everyone who came and supported our winter concerts. Their generosity and enthusiasm when it come to supporting our live performances are key factors in the continuing development and success of Barnsley Youth Choir.
